Our Mission

Youth Impact is a discipleship ministry, dedicated to reaching kids 1st-12th grade in Bryan and College Station. Our Thursday after-school program is a platform for volunteers to meet kids and their families and eventually develop discipleship relationships. Our goal is to partner with parents of under-resourced youth to aid in developing their students into followers of Christ who will be the leaders of our community. Each year, we have 100-120 college-age volunteers who connect to 200-250 students weekly. We also understand that our volunteers are being shaped by the families and experiences of the ministry, therefore we take great care to supplement their efforts through bible study and training.

Youth Impact

About Us

Youth Impact is a discipleship ministry, dedicated to equipping college-age volunteers to reach kids 1st-12th grade in Bryan and College Station. Every Thursday we facilitate an after-school program which allows our volunteers to meet students and their families and develop discipleship relationships through group mentoring. On Sunday nights we take time to study scripture and discuss various topics to best equip and support our volunteers for this ministry.

Mission

We seek and serve youth in need so they might fulfill their God-given potential.

Vision

We do this by equipping diverse disciples to make disciples of youth in need through mentorship and partnership with their families and the B/CS community.

Values

  • We are image-bearers (Gen. 1:26-27)
  • We follow Jesus (Matt. 28:19-20)
  • We sacrificially serve (Luke 10:30-37)
  • We ask & listen (Matt. 7:7-12)
  • We are life-long learners (Matt. 18:1-6)

Goals

We strive for each volunteer & student within our reach to fulfill their God-given potential by experiencing:

Spiritual Development

Emotional Awareness

Relational Maturity

Vocational Opportunity

Our History

Youth Impact began in 1981 when a few Grace college students began regularly hanging out with a couple families in Wellborn and Southgate Apartments. Through these genuine relationships, more volunteers and more kids began attending these hangouts, which eventually earned the name "Mission". Soon there were so many kids that they split them by age, calling the two groups "bigs" and "littles". Over the next 20 years as the ministry grew, the college volunteers developed a leadership structure with group leaders called "Big Dogs" and a student director. These positions were passed to new leaders every year. The group also sought guidance from GBC staff, gaining insight on vetting volunteers, space for meetings, and other resources. Around 2002, GBC hired one of the previous volunteer directors as an intern to oversee Youth Impact and make it an official ministry of Grace Bible Church. Fast forward another 20+years, and Youth Impact is a multi-staffed ministry of GBC with ~120 volunteers reaching ~250 kids every year with the same heart of building genuine and mutually beneficial relationships. Today, we have a clear sense of God's calling for us to invest in college volunteers who are going into local neighborhoods and making disciples of the second and third generation from those early years.

About Us

Volunteer Training

Effective discipleship of the students starts with effective discipleship and training of our volunteers. On Sunday nights and one retreat weekend each semester we take time to walk through scripture and various topics to best equip and support our volunteers for ministry.
