When we buy in to the cultural creed that you are valued by what you do, we are likely to center our value in our work. This has detrimental effects, not only on our mental health, but also in the way we treat others as we see them not as objects of God’s love, but as competitors. Instead, our identity in Christ frees us from the need to build self-value as we seek to serve each other in love.
