Why is Your Church Called Grace Bible Church
Winter 2013
First, we strongly emphasize the grace of God. We believe that eternal life is an absolutely free gift, based on the death and resurrection of Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 4:4-5; John 3:16). By its very definition, grace is free (Romans 11:6). All who believe in Jesus are granted forgiveness of their sin and the promise of eternal life. We aren't required to earn our salvation, and we aren't required to prove that we are worthy of it . Free means free, and our mission as a church is to proclaim the free gift of eternal life to our congregation, our community, and the world.
Second, we strongly emphasize the Bible as God's Word. The Bible tells us about God's character and explains what He has done to save the world from sin and death. The Bible also instructs Christians how to know Jesus better, how to tell others about Jesus, and how to imitate His character. We believe that the Scripture is our primary source of authority for spiritual growth. We desire to teach God's Word and to help others to study it and to apply it.
Third, we are a local church. Although we send students and missionaries all over the world, we are a local church. We believe that spiritual growth is best accomplished in the context of relationships with other Christians who know us, pray for us, and remind us of truth from God's Word. We encourage those relationships through our weekly worship services and Grace Group meetings. We also provide training for those who will eventually move away, so they can continue to grow with Christ wherever He takes them.
