Born in Houston, Texas to Harry and Hazel Chavanne, David grew up in a loving Christian family. He has three sisters who all still live in Houston. He was saved and baptized at South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

David graduated from Lee High School (1966) in Houston and then received a B.B.A. degree from Baylor University in 1970. Following graduation he went to Dallas Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1974 with a Masters of Theology degree (majoring in OT/Hebrew). It was during his time at DTS that he met his lovely wife of almost 36 years, Wendy. They were married in May, 1972.

From seminary he was called to be the pastor of East Ridge Bible Church, a small church in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he and Wendy served for over 20 years.

The Chavanne’s returned to Houston in 1995 where David served on the board of the Oldham Little Church Foundation. From 1996-98 they established Selah Springs Ranch in the Texas Hill Country with a vision to provide a ministry of rest, recreation and encouragement to pastors and other Christian families.

In January 1999 David was called to be the Executive Pastor of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas where he served until September 2006.

David and Wendy have two sons that they are very proud of: Jonathan, who is a history teacher and Lt. in the Naval Reserves, presently serving in the United Arab Emirates and Philip, who with his wife Andrea serve as Director of Hill Kountry K-Life in Brady, Texas.

David’s passion is mentoring and shepherding men and women in ministry so that they might attain “to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13).
